Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Cut My Storage (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use cutmystorage.com (the “Site”) and our service of asking storage facilities for better rates on your behalf (the “Service”).

Information you give us

When you submit a savings request, we collect:

  • Unit details: unit size, current monthly rate, floor or level of the unit, whether it is climate-controlled, and your move-in or lease start date
  • Facility details: storage facility name, street address, city, state, and ZIP code
  • Contact details: full name and email, and optionally your phone number
  • Optional details: a competitor monthly quote, a competitor facility name, and any notes you add
  • Your consent to let us contact your storage facility and nearby competing facilities on your behalf

When you create an account, we collect your email address and password, or the basic profile information Google shares with us if you choose “Continue with Google.”

Information collected automatically

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the Site, including an event that records when a savings request is submitted. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies and may collect information such as pages viewed, device and browser type, and approximate location.

There is no Google Ads tag on the Site. Our Google Analytics account is linked to Google Ads, and we may use analytics data for advertising, including measuring our ads and possibly remarketing (showing our ads to people who visited the Site). Ad storage and ad personalization consent are currently enabled. If you arrive from one of our Google ads, Google adds a click identifier (“gclid”) to the page URL.

How we use your information

  • To provide the Service: we email your current facility and similar storages within about 3 miles from hello@cutmystorage.com, on your behalf, to ask for written rates
  • To send you the written rates we receive and keep your requests in your account
  • To respond to your questions
  • To understand and improve the Site, and to measure and improve our advertising

We contact you by email. Your phone number is optional. It is never shared with facilities, and we do not currently use it to contact you. We do not make phone calls.

How we share your information

  • With your current facility: your name (with a statement that you authorized us to contact them), your unit size, whether the unit is climate-controlled, the facility name, and your current monthly rate.
  • With other storages within about 3 miles: only the unit size, whether it is climate-controlled, and your city and ZIP code. They do not receive your name or any other personal information.
  • We never share your email address, phone number, or street address with facilities. Facilities see hello@cutmystorage.com as the only contact.
  • With service providers that help us run the Site:
    • Lovable (site hosting)
    • Lovable Cloud / Supabase (intake database and authentication)
    • Google (“Continue with Google” sign-in)
    • Google Workspace (hello@cutmystorage.com email)
    • Google Analytics 4
    • Cloudflare R2, used by our host to serve Site images
  • For legal reasons: we may disclose information if we believe it is required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Cut My Storage, our users, or others.

We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices and rights

  • You choose what to do with any rate you receive. We never move you without your OK.
  • Access, correction, and deletion: email hello@cutmystorage.com to request a copy of your information, correct it, or delete it.
  • Advertising opt-out: you can opt out of personalized Google ads at Google Ad Settings and opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to request access to, correction of, and deletion of your personal information; to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, including sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising; and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. To make a request, including an opt-out of sale or sharing, email hello@cutmystorage.com with the subject “Privacy request.” We may need to verify your request using the email address on your account or request. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
  • Do Not Track: the Site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals. You can use the opt-out options above to limit analytics and advertising.

Data retention

We keep information about a savings request for as long as the request is open and for 24 months after it closes, and account information while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your information at any time by emailing hello@cutmystorage.com. We may keep limited information when required by law.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Age requirement

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, email hello@cutmystorage.com and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy. We will post the updated version on this page with a new effective date.
